We ask all the factories that manufacture our products to share these same commitments. We, at least, require that all factories, manufacturing our products, to meet the below standards
Child labor
The plants will not employ children. The term "child" refers to anyone under the age of 15 or, if more, the minimum legal age for employment or at the completion of compulsory schooling. The factories employing young people who are not part of the category "children" must also comply to laws and regulations in force regarding these persons.
Forced Labor
The plants will not employ forced or involuntary labor, whether through incarceration, "bondage", compulsory labor contract or otherwise.
Coercion and harassment
Plants will treat each employee with dignity and respect and will not use corporal punishment, violence threats or any other form of harassment or physical, sexual, psychological or verbal abuses.
Non-discrimination
The plants will not practice discrimination in hiring and recruitment, including with regard to wages, benefits, promotions, discipline, termination or retirement, on the basis of race, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, political opinions or disability.
Association
Factories will, without penalty or interference, respect the employee rights to associate, to organize or to trade jointly and calmly and abiding by the laws.
Safety and Security
The plants will provide employees with a healthy and non-hazardous working place, in accordance with all laws and regulations in force, and as the minimum will ensure to have proper access to drinking water and sanitary appliance, fire safety, and suitable lighting and ventilation. The plants will also ensure that they apply the same health and safety standards to any accommodation they provide to their employees.
Remuneration
We expect factories to recognize that wages are essential to meet the employees' basic needs. Plants will comply with, at a minimum, all in force laws and regulations regarding wages and numbers of working hours, including those related to minimum wages, overtime, maximum working hours, piece rates and other elements related to renumeration and will provide advantages required by the law. Except in the case of special circumstances for the company, the plant will not require employees to work more than the shortest of the following working time length (a) 48 hours per week and 12 overtime hours or (b) legal limits for the number of regular and overtime hours or, where the laws do not limit working time length, the standard working week for the concerned country plus 12 overtime hours. Moreover, unless special circumstances for the company, employees are entitled to at least one day off for every seven-day period. The overtime hour rate for employees in factories will be the legally existing increased rates or, in case of no regulations on overtime rate, they will receive at a rate at least equal to the hourly rate normally charged. Where local industry standards go beyond the regulations, we ask the factory to comply with the highest standards.
Environmental Protection
Plants will comply with all current environmental laws and regulations.
Other laws
Plants will comply with all laws and regulations in force, including those related to the manufacture, prices, sale and distribution of products. All the references to "laws and regulations" in this Code of Conduct include the codes, regulations, and local and national regulations, and treaties and voluntary industry standards in force.
Subcontracting
The factories will employ subcontractors for the manufacture of products only if they undertake to comply with the standards contained in this Code of Conduct.
Monitoring and Compliance
Factories will authorize Factory link and the agents appointed by him (including third parties) to participate in monitoring activities to confirm that this Code of Conduct is observed, including unannounced on-site inspections of production facilities or accommodation provided by the employer; to check books and records related to hiring, and to have private conversation with employees. Plants will keep on-site all documentation which enables to demonstrate that their conduct is consistent with this Code of Conduct
Publishing
Plants will take the necessary steps to ensure that the provisions of this Code of Conduct are communicated to employees, including posting a copy in the local language of the Code of Conduct in a conspicuous place with easy access, so that employees can read it at any time.
